“E(pel.)sodic Fragments”

Not everything is the same as it was when we were kids. The house you grew up in, the town you were raised in, the number of family members- both human and critters. It can be hard to grasp at times. Things morph at extreme speeds or slowly turn into something else, there is no in-between. Sometimes you lose track of what truly happened. You try to pick up the pieces, but you are never able to glue them together in the same way again.
In this series of photographs, I am exploring concepts of memory and changes. Many things in my family’s lives have changed over the years, especially in the past couple of years. We have lost members both furry and non-furry- even a few who never got to take their first breaths. Two of these photos are in memory of those who were lost. Two are of the changing landscapes in my home state of Iowa. And one is a representation of my ever-changing self. By experimenting with HEX editing (a way to manipulate code) photo files, I am expressing the sadness, melancholy, and frustration changes can cause to one’s memories and life in general.
