“Hearty Viridian: Bunny”

This piece is a continuation of my last piece, Pretty Mint Dream Doggy. Continuing on the theme of personal body struggles this piece depicts Hallux Valgus, otherwise known as Bunions. My personal case of Bunions is very mild and only causes slight pain from time to time. But I know other women, including my mother, have more severe cases that make it hard for them to be on their feet for extended periods of time. Not only do women suffer from this condition, but men can also get it too. But women tend to develop Bunions more often because of the types of shoes they wear- smaller and pointy-toed shoes like high heels and ballet shoes.
This was an interesting topic to learn about. I had no idea that Bunions could be a genetic condition. Or that having flat feet or something called ‘Hammer toes’- a deformity where the middle joint of the second, third, or fourth toe is bent and creates an arch- could increase your chances of developing Bunions.
Just like my last piece, I just wanted to shed some light on a topic that many people can relate to. It is a painful condition that thankfully can be fixed with surgery. But not everyone is willing to go under the knife. It’s ok, it’s your body and you can decide what you want to do with it. As long as you can find peace within yourself, that’s all that matters.
